Who is Moby?
I'm just a strange, bald, middle-aged man who makes records in his room New Country Songs alone. I wish I could offer something more glamorous, but this is the truth.
They tell me to wait on me.
Over time, I have less and less concerned with all the machinery used to create music. I can understand the possibilities of production and technical genius, but I am totally unable to relate. Of Wait for Me, I wanted to make music that I had to make a connection. This billboard top 100 songs meant that instead of recording a series of percussion on a number of microphones, with I-drum sounds and the two microphones are not very good in New Country Songs my bedroom was satisfied.
It is the melancholy feeling of the album to Taylor Swift Songs come out of this isolation?
I always liked sad, sad music. I wanted to make an album that meant something to me, so that's how the songs sound. This does not mean they are depressed or not appreciate a good song to dance. I like Creedence Clearwater Revival, just do not want to listen to New Country Songs Joy Division instead.
Ken Thomas has brought to mix the album. What impact has the same impact on the process?
I think that has produced the first record in the mid 70s. It has an amazing resume, with all the Throbbing Gristle and Buzzcocks to Sigur Ros. His strength as a producer who is willing to do what works, is to achieve the right effect. There's a song on the album, titled "Ghost Return", and to remove their words even more atmospheric drums and Ken almost all focused on a thin ride cymbal just registered. He knew that this was what the song needed, found a way to do this. There are a lot of time pressure from the record company songs that sound good to make the radio. I wanted to do something different, and Ken understood. The songs on Wait for Me is designed for people who listen to them at home or with their personal stereo headphones.
Why did you choose "shot in the head", a song without words, the first single from the album?
I spent a good number of years at the behest of the label. There was always pressure from EMI for something that was mass produced and marketed as packaged for sale to the public. This time to make a record I wanted to hear, the selection of creepy, atmospheric songs without text as the first single released in a natural way. Life is far too short to worry about the commercial aspects of music. I know it sounds hypocritical or simply out of me, but if they are 100 years (hopefully) on my deathbed, will not be more than all the money I made and I think that makes the radio.
